Elk Hunting Overview Elk hunts are offered in association with our associates in Ruidoso, New Mexico. These hunts are both semi and fully guided. The elk hunts take place on private and public land and you may choose to hunt using muzzleloader, rifle, or archery. Our guides are knowledgeable and experienced. Hunters can expect shot opportunities for 300 + bulls. In 2005, Brian Newell, one of our guides, harvested a 417 class bull. If you are in good shape and can keep up with your guide, your chance at a 300 + class bull is excellent! New Mexico employs a draw-tag system. The deadline for submitting applications in this area is late April, and the actual draw occurs in July.
